Artista visual e educador. Como criador de imagens, desenvolve pesquisa em desenho, pintura e vídeo. Colaborativamente produz instalações e intervenções no espaço público que interagem diferentes saberes e mídias e provocam deslocamentos no entendimento da relação público-obra-artista.
Participou de exposições coletivas em São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Campinas e Santos e de mostras de artes no Sesc e eventos culturais como a Virada Cultural (2006 e 2011). Realizou residência artística no CED – Centro de estudos de dança (2012) e em Havana, Cuba, onde expôs seu trabalho no Centro de Arte Contemporânea Wilfredo Lam.
Mestre em Comunicação e Semiótica pela PUC-SP onde realizou pesquisa sobre processos criativos coletivos, graduou-se em Licenciatura em Educação Artística pela FAAP em 1998.
Atuou em escolas de educação infantil e ONG’s como arte-educador. Coordenou o curso de Licenciatura em Artes Visuais na Unicastelo, onde participou da formulação do projeto pedagógico do curso e ministrou as disciplinas de Instrumentos e Técnicas de Pintura, Pintura e Expressão e Linguagens Contemporâneas. Realiza oficinas livres em centros culturais e unidades do Sesc. Leciona no ensino fundamental como professor especialista de Artes Visuais.
Fundou e integrou o Espaço Coringa, grupo que propôs a construção de um saber artístico e de um discurso crítico através de vivências coletivas em arte. É associado fundador e atual diretor da AJA_artes visuais, onde participa e coordena projetos de arte e cultura.
Brief Résumé
Visual artist and educator. As the creator of images, the artist develops research on drawing, painting, and video techniques. Matheus has produced collaborative installations and interventions in public spaces that interact with different forms of knowledge and media, provoking displacements in the way we understand the audience-work-artist relationship.
The artist has taken part in collective exhibitions in São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Campinas, and Santos, as well as art exhibitions at SESC units and cultural events such as the Virada Cultural (2006 and 2011). His artistic residency was done in the CED – Centro de Estudos da Dança (2012) and in Havana, Cuba, where he exhibited his work at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wilfredo Lam.
Matheus has a Bachelor Degree and Teaching Licensure in Art Education by FAAP, concluded in 1998, and a Master Degree in Communication and Semiotics by the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), where he developed a research on collective creative processes.
He has worked as an Art Educator at children’s school and NGO’s. Also, he coordinated the Teaching Licensure Course in Visual Arts of Unicastelo, where he participated in the formulation of the pedagogical project and conducted the courses of Painting Instruments and Techniques, Painting and Expression, and Contemporary Languages. The artist promotes free workshops in cultural centres and SESC units, and also acts as an Elementary School Teacher specialized in Visual Arts.
Matheus founded and participated in Espaço Coringa, a group that proposed the construction of an artistic knowledge and a critical speech practiced by means of collective art experiences. He is the founding partner and current director of AJA Artes Visuais, where he coordinates and takes part in artistic and cultural projects.
